It's pretty simple! Once we have onboarded your organization, we will identify a partner organization in that is a good fit for your particular devices. From there, we will facilitate the entire transaction.

Depending on the circumstances, you will either mail them directly to the partner organization or you can mail them to OK Computers to prepare them for distribution. We can supply you with prepaid laptop shipping boxes that make it easy for you to safely and securely ship your laptops.

We currently do not have the facilities (or NAID certification) to do data erasure on behalf of donation partners. That is something we will explore as we grow and understand the needs of our partners.

Right now, we are funding OK Computers out-of-pocket. We are exploring various funding models. One option is to accept private donations. The other is to sell every 10th computer we receive. Nothing has been decided yet. Luckily, we have very few expenses, but that will likely change over time.

As of July 2022, we have taken no steps to register as a 501c3. However, every partner organization we work with will be registered as a 501c3 and be able to issue a tax deductible receipt.

We have to start somewhere! Laptops are powerful digital tools in high demand. Over time, we will explore expanding our services to other devices.

We are focused on working with midsize technology companies who provide MacBooks and PC laptops to their employees. Technology companies often retire them quite early in the lifecycle of the device, which greats opportunity to give them a second home. We are hoping to work with companies that can deliver 5+ computers at once.

We look for newer laptops that are still viable and in good to great condition. For now that means laptops in good to great condition from 2018 or later. We want to provide computers that will work! We don't want throwaways.
